The Mirror Lite Company offers an economical device to combat frozen windshield wipers. As an improvement over the slow and inefficient forced air defroster, the Northwind™ Wiper Heater warms wiper blades through the windshield via two direct contact radiant strips. The heating strips adhere directly to the inside of the glass opposite the parked wiper blades, quickly thawing the blades and the glass around them.
"We've talked to drivers who complain of having to bash away at their windshield wipers with brooms on winter mornings trying to free them from ice dams at the bottom of the windshield." Says Paul Schmidt, designer of the new weather-fighting device. This product will save them that frustration".
"The system should also prove to be a money saver," predicts Schmidt. "The Northwind significantly reduces wear & tear to the rubber blades and extends wiper blade life."
Winter isn't the only season where the Northwind Wiper Heater can improve visibility. "In rainy weather, the system prevents wiper blade hydroplaning," adds Schmidt. "Warming the rubber makes it more flexible and improves the blade's ability to grip the glass and shed water. So this is a product that saves time and money, relieves frustration and gives you better visibility in ice and heavy rain".
The Northwind's heating elements are sealed in a clear, tough Mylar material and do not interfere with the driver's line of sight.
Installation involves a simple 12 volt plug-in connection and the quick application of two "peel & stick" radiant strips.
